Officials at the Sousse-based football club L’Etoile du Sahel, headed by Charfeddine, said that the gunmen opened fire on his car as he was driving in Sousse. He was not hurt.
Charfeddine is a member of the secular Nida Tunis Party.
There was no comment from the Interior Ministry.
In June, 38 foreign tourists, mostly Britons, were killed in an attack at an hotel in Sousse, marking Tunisia’s deadliest.
The Islamic State extremist militia claimed responsibility for the attack.
