Residents of Kirigui-ini town in Mathioya sub-County, Murang’a remain in shock after a 19-year-old kid struck his uncle on the head, killing him immediately.
Maina Thuku who is at large is alleged to have hit Peter Wanyeki, 44, on his head using a piece of timber which had nails.
A brother to the deceased, Thiong’o Nyaga said the two had a confrontation about iron sheets which are said to belong to their grandmother.
Nyaga said the youth was planning to sell the iron sheets and when he was stopped, he picked the timber and attacked his uncle.
“There was a bitter confrontation between Maina and his uncle after he was denied permission to sell iron sheets belonging to his grandmother,” said Nyaga.
He suspected that the youth could have been using drugs.
Confirming the incident, Murang’a North DCIO Japheth Maingi said at the time police arrived at the scene, the boy had vanished.
He said the deceased had critical injuries on his head, and that his body has already been taken to Kiria-ini Mission hospital mortuary.
Maingi urged members of the public to help police with information that could help in arresting the suspect.
