Supreme Court Set To Deliver Judgments In Akwa Ibom, Abia Elections

Abuja – The Supreme Court will on Wednesday deliver final judgments on the governorship election petitions in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

Dr Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is contesting the verdict of the Appeal Court that cancelled his election and ordered the swearing in of his challenger, Dr Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

In Akwa Ibom state, Governor Udom Emmanuel of PDP is also contesting the Appeal court judgement that ordered for a rerun election in the state.

He is being challenged by Umana Okon Umana, a former secretary to the state government and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

The apex court like it had done with other governorship cases is expected to give a summary judgement.

Already, there is palpable tension in the two states.

Supporters of the candidates are optimistic of a favourable ruling.
