Sudan’s army head, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, made his first public appearance since confrontations with the Rapid Support Forces began.
According to local media, the General landed in Port Sudan on Thursday from Atbara city in the River Nile province.
According to sources close to the army, the East African country’s de facto leader will travel to Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Sudan was thrown into disarray in April when opposing generals Al-Burhane and Mohamed Hamdan Daglo clashed openly in the capital Khartoum, quickly spreading to neighboring places such as Al-Facher in Darfur and Al-Foula in Kordofan.
According to the United Nations’ migration agency, thousands of people have died and more than 3.4 million have been forced to leave to safer locations within Sudan.
According to the group, over a million refugees have fled to neighboring countries including as Egypt, Chad, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and the Central African Republic.
As the country’s health-care system approaches utter collapse, many inhabitants are forced to live without running water or power.
