Sound Sultan Speaks On Body Shaming Fat Women

Nigerian singer Sound Sultan has made an appeal to end fat-shaming of big bodied women.

The ‘orobo’ hitmaker stated that African men love plus-sized women and as such people should refrain from mocking women because of their size.

He mentioned that all musicians cannot sing about bad government or slim curvy women that is why he decided to sing about plus-sized women.

As a result, a lot of big bodied women became big fans of his music.

He said:

“Everybody cannot sing about the government being bad. Yes, we have danced. We know about a girl’s bum– it is big and round. We like it.

“Except one is pretending, every guy loves a woman’s curves. When I released the song, Orobo, full figured women suddenly became my fans.

“We can’t be body shaming plus-sized women when we know Africans love them that way.”

Speaking on his music appealing to the new generation, Sound Sultan said he was lucky to have grown in the industry with the new generation.

He also revealed that the children in his “Jangbajantis” video are now young adults and that age group grew up listening to his music.

“I am lucky I started with the new generation because a lot of kids loved Jangbajantis and they grew with me.

“The kids in that video are now between 27 and 28” he said.

Sultan used the opportunity to advise parents on the kind of songs their children listen to.

He said:

“These days, parents are allowing their kids listen to any kind of music they fancy, and that’s not right.

“When I go to some parties and the DJ plays some songs, I tell them to reduce the volume at some parts.”
