Ryan Giggs Set To Leave Man United After 29-Years

After almost three decades with English and European football giants, Manchester United, former player and manager Ryan Giggs is leaving the Old Trafford outfit according to reports in the English press.

United are expected to release a statement on the Cardiff-born Giggs who have served them for 29-years. His departure is linked with the arrival of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

It is believed that even though Giggs has a year on his assistant manager contract, Mourinho wants to have Rui Faria, a long time friend, as his assistant instead of sticking with Giggs who was assistant to Louis Van Gaal.

After the torrid managerial stints that saw Davis Moyes and Van Gaal keep Man United at a ‘high level’ as Sir Alex Ferguson left it, United overlooked Giggs and signed Mourinho seen as a more experienced hand.

Giggs joined United academy on his 14th birthday.
He turned professional aged 17 in Novembetr 1990
He made his first team debut against Everton in March 1991
Giggs won a record 13 Premier League titles
He also won two European Cups, four FA cups and four League Cups
He was appointed player-coach under Moyes in 2013
Then substantive assistant to Van Gaal in 2014

With a UEFA Pro License to his credit, it is believed that he could venture into management following in the boots of ex United players like Gary Neville, Paul Ince, Steve Bruce etc.
