Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested in Dominican Republic

Controversial Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was detained on Sunday night, October 15, in the Dominican Republic, after being accused of attacking two music producers.

According to witnesses who talked with Dominican newspaper Diario Libre, Tekashi, 27, came to a studio early Friday morning with five other guys. According to witnesses, the mob entered the studio and attacked two producers. Surveillance video showed the crew walking away.

According to TMZ, the New York-born rapper, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, sought to book a charter flight out of the country following the incident. However, the charter firm investigated with police and discovered that Tekashi was wanted.

Tekashi was taken to a police station in Sanchez, according to TMZ. People rushed the police cruiser as he arrived, and policemen had to force them away to bring Tekashi safely into the station.

Tekashi was reportedly envious because the producers were spending time with his girlfriend, Dominican musician Yailin La Mas Viral. At the time, she was supposedly recording tunes.

“Yailin had just left,” producer Diamond La Mafia told Diario Libre in Spanish. “[Tekashi’s crew] lost it on my producers, though they were not at fault, and they did not know them.”

One of the victims was said to have suffered a shattered jaw. According to Diario Libre, police are also looking for a second suspect in the incident.

Tekashi has been arrested several times. In 2018, he was arrested on racketeering charges for his involvement with the New York Nine Trey Gangsters. Tekashi notoriously turned on his gang and testified against them, earning himself a two-year term.

Tekashi was arrested in August in Florida for failing to appear in court for a driving infraction. He was accused of exceeding the speed limit of 65 miles per hour.
