CORD leader Raila Odinga has actually been advised to abort the intended anti-IEBC demonstrations in honour of the late former  first lady, Mama Lucy Kibaki.

Nakuru county TNA chairman, Harrison Muiruri pleaded with Raila to show respect to retired president Mwai Kibaki and his late wife by calling on his supporters not to protest.

Speaking Tuesday evening in Nakuru town, Muiruri said that holding protests while the country is mourning will be a sign of insensitivity and disrespect to the family of Kibaki.

Muiruri urged Raila to unite with the rest of the country in mourning with the Kibaki family.

“This is the time we need to unite as a country and mourn together with the former president, and I want to urge the former prime minister to call off the planned protests against IEBC as a sign of respect to the former first lady,”  said Muiruri.

“We cannot be protesting at a time when the country is mourning and CORD should be part of this mourning by calling of the protests,” he added.

On Tuesday, Raila announced nationwide anti-IEBC protests by CORD supporters which he said will start on May 2. CORD is pushing for the disbandment of the current IEBC ahead of the 2017 general elections.
