Nyeri Senator, Mutahi Kagwe has called for better use of internet saying it has become an agent of moral decadence.
Kagwe said internet has been a source of crimes and a hiding place for criminals including pedophiles.
He stated that government is preparing strict laws which will help to track down bloggers who harass other people and abuse using internet.
“Those who use internet for criminal activities will face the law. Senate is working on some legislations,” he said.
Speaking to journalists in Nyeri town, Kagwe divulged that there is a team monitoring bloggers on what they are doing.
“We are also making a law to prohibit abuse of children through internet. Internet should be used for learning but it has become danger to our society,” Kagwe added.
He is the chairman of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) committee in the Senate.
He however observed that Africa is behind in development because of delay in embracing communication technology.
