Prison Break actor, Wentworth Miller has revealed his new focus is queer representation on-screen moving forward.
The English-American actor and screenwriter who rose to prominence following his lead role in Fox Network’s television drama Prison Break became open about his sexuality in 2013.
Miller might officially be stepping down from his role as Prison Break’s lead character Michael Scofield which he described as a “straight character”.
In a lengthy note posted to Instagram, actor Wentworth Miller announced that he’s no longer involved with the US drama, and won’t appear in a sixth season if it materializes.
“I just don’t want to play straight characters,” wrote Wentworth, “Their stories have been told (and told).”
The 48-year-old went on to apologize for disappointing his fans, but true to form, offered some cheeky closure.
“If you’re hot and bothered [because] you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one… That’s your work,” he quipped.
