The International Criminal Court (ICC) ‘ghost’ will continue to haunt Kenya after the collapse of the cases facing 6 of its citizens.

The highest court in the world is now threatning to enforce purnishment on the country if it does not extradite 3 Kenyans to the Hague to solution to charges of interfering with  witnesses.

During a thanksgiving event for 6 Kenyans that had actually been fingered by the Hague based court last Saturday, President Uhuru Kenyatta that was amongst the victims revealed that nobody from the nation will  be taken to the international court.

“I will not allow any other Kenyan to be tried in a foreign court and humiliated like us. As a country, we have closed the ICC chapter,” President Kenyatta told the crowd at the thanksgiving rally in Nakuru.

ICC however, in a quick rebuttal, Monday warned that the statement by the Head of State may earn the country sanctions internationally.

ICC Spokesman, Fadi El Abdallah explained that if Kenya does not cooperate, it stands a risk of being declared a pariah state and it will be sanctioned at the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) for non-cooperation.

“In case of non-cooperation, the legal procedure before the ICC is for the Judges to make a finding of non-compliance and to refer it to the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute for the Assembly to take any measure it deems appropriate,” said Abdallah.

ICC has issued an arrest warrant against three Kenyans; Walter Osapiri Barasa, Paul Gicheru and Phillip Koech Bett.

The three are accused of bribing ICC prosecution witnesses in the case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang that were recently terminated.
