A member of Parliament has accused deputy President William Ruto of misadvising and misleading President Uhuru Kenyatta on the ongoing IEBC crisis.

Kuresoi south MP, Zakayo Cheuriyot claims that President Kenyatta was ready and willing to prevail upon IEBC commissioners to quit but Ruto advised him otherwise.

Speaking Tuesday in Nakuru, Cheruiyot said that the current stalemate should be blamed on the DP who wants to hold the status quo at IEBC.

He accused Ruto of being a stumbling block between the President and CORD leaders whom he said are more than willing to hold talks and resolve the IEBC stalemate.

“The President understands the problem with IEBC and is ready to sit down and find a lasting solution but the deputy President does not want that to happen and that is why he is supporting IEBC and preventing talks from happening,” he said.

“Were it not for Ruto, the President and Raila would have met long ago and a solution found,” he added.

He called on Kenyatta to take quick action and resolve the IEBC stalemate once and for all.

“The President has powers than any other person in the country and he should use his powers to convince the commissioners to resign voluntarily and stop listening to some people who seem to be misleading him,” he said.
