Kisumu – A member of the Kisumu County Assembly (MCA), Jacktone Onunga is pushing for a motion to bar the selling of coffins near hospitals.
The Nyalenda MCA says that presence of coffins next to hospitals makes patients to feel half-dead.
However, coffin sellers interviewed by Standard have expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal and accused Onunga of plotting to kick them out of business.
They said that selling coffins does not mean they celebrate death, and called on the leader to focus on passing serious motions.
The MCA has said that he has nothing against coffin sellers, noting that he only wants to help restore sanity within the city and major hospitals.
