Kenyans will soon be able to track mails and parcels using their mobile phones, following the launch of a digital application by Postal Corporation of Kenya (Posta). The application dubbed M-Post will provide digital postal services to the customers.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru lauded Posta for launching the application, terming it transformational. “I am glad that the Corporation is moving to leverage on innovation to enhance revenue generation and roll out transformation products and services to the citizens of this great nation. With this initiative, we are making postal services convenient, affordable, inclusive, and accessible even as we guarantee security of parcels,” said the CS.
He was speaking during the launch of the service in Nairobi on Thursday.
M-Post is an innovative product that allows customers to enjoy Postal Services at convenience through the tracking of mails from mobile phones via notification. The application further links physical box to virtual address.
The new service is in line with the government’s effort to enhance service delivery to the public and build a knowledge based economy that utilises technology enabled services to deliver value to the public. It also provides for the social economic development.
The CS urged Posta Kenya to harness the opportunities in the lucrative logistics and financial sectors by capitalising on its unique vast network of over 600 outlets countrywide to secure a communications edge in business development.
Mr Mucheru urged the Corporation to adopt digital marketing to grow their business and establish itself as leaders in the sector.
