Politician Dies In Road Accident

A well-known Laikipia West politician has died following a road accident along Sagana-Kenol road.

Bernard Ndung’u, who had expressed interest in the Laikipia West parliamentary seat in next year’s polls, is said to have lost control of his vehicle and rolled several times.

Police said Ndung’u, who was alone in the car at the time of the accident, sustained serious head injuries and died while undergoing treatment at Thika Level 5 Hospital.

The wreckage of the car was towed to Makuyu Police Station for inspection to determine the cause of the accident.

Laikipia residents mourned his death.

Ndung’u initially served as a Councilor for Sipili Ward, was eulogised as a visionary leader and friend to many.

“Peace and Comfort to family and friends of Ndung’u. It was hard to believe the news but finally had to, it was so quick and sudden remembering it is only last week that we were sharing on how our Laikipia can be better,” said Paul Mwangi, a resident.
