A police officer was among three people were Tuesday charged for illegal possession of ivory.
The three were allegedly nabbed with eight kilos of ivory at Mlolongo Monday.
According to The Star, the ivory is estimated to be worth KES 300,000.
Last month, a court in Mombasa gave land mark ruling in a case involving ivory trafficking “kingpin” Feisal Mohamed Ali by sentencing him to 20 years in jail.
Feisal was arrested in Tanzania in 2014 in connection with two tonnes of ivory — 228 whole tusks and 74 pieces — found in a Mombasa warehouse. Authorities put the value of the ivory at $4.2 million (3.8 million euros).
