The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke.
The party said it was satisfied with his performance as Speaker and has no intention to ask for his replacement..
There were speculations that Luke may be replaced by the former Speaker of the House, Aniekan Uko.
Uko won his reelection to return to the state Assembly a fortnight ago.
Uko’s election as a member representing Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency was annulled in December 2015 by the Court of Appeal thus losing out as Assembly Speaker.
Uko was subsequently replaced by Luke.
