Nyeri – Nyeri County MP, Priscillah Nyokabi has said that the National Assembly is a mob justice arena following the rejection Monica Juma as Secretary to the Cabinet.
Nyokabi said that MPs rejected Juma due to their personal reasons.
“It is sad that the National Assembly has refused to approve the President’s nominee for the position of Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Monica Juma. Our National Assembly is a mob justice arena,” said Nyokabi.
Juma had been nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to replace Francis Kimemia who was sacked recently after his name featured in the famous list of shame.
“Juma is well trained, with a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Oxford. She did her work well and is a conscientious public servant. Her problem was handling of MPs,” stated Nyokabi.
Nyokabi observed that though Juma was not in good terms with MPs, it was not enough reason for rejection.
“It is sad that when you do your work well in Kenya, instead of being applauded you get punished for it. Strong women are particularly in trouble. I do hope Dr. Monica will continue serving Kenya in different capacities,” she added.
She further asked her fellow lawmakers to be of sound judgment and make decisions for the country
