An overlapping bus overturned on the busy Mombasa highway Monday night, killing 12 people.
The Star reports that two people died on the spot, with further reports indicating that several commuters remained trapped beneath the bus for hours.
Those who were injured were rushed to Mater and Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.
It is not clear whether the other 10 who succumbed were still waiting to be rescued or had already been rushed to hospital.
According to Daily Nation, the 32-seater bus was heading towards Imara Daima when the accident happened.
