Niger Delta – Commandant General of the Riverine Security, Bibi Oduku has actually urged the Federal Government not to bargain with the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, as it would certainly portray a sign of weakness, The Sun records.
Oduku said that the intentions of the militants were ill-conceived and that negotiating with them will put the FG in a weak position as it would hand over power to the militants.
He added that the problem of the Niger Delta was solved through the amnesty package of the late President, Umara Yar’Adua.
Oduku opined that as soon as the FG settled with these militants, it would be a sign of weakness and that other groups will exploit this weakness.
News24 Nigeria previously reported that the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, selected a 7-member team to open a dialogue with the FG.
