Raila Odinga led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has condemned the Tuesday murder of the party’s Nairobi Youth Leader, Stephen Mukabana at his home in Utawala.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen said the party is greatly affected by the killing of Mukabana and appealed to security agents to bring to book the suspects who shot the promising youth leader at his gate.

“His murder is suspect and raises a lot of questions that can only be answered through thorough forensic investigations by the police. ODM urges the police to move with speed to unravel the puzzle and bring the culprits of this heinous act to book,” said Ong’wen.

The ODM Director praised the deceased youth leader noting that he was an active member of the ODM Youth League and contributed immensely to the growth of the party in Nairobi and its environs.

“Mukabana’s active involvement in the party affairs and CORD as a whole will be greatly missed by all and sundry. ODM party condoles with the family of this youthful leader whose energy and oomph made the party be felt in all corners of the County of Nairobi,” he said.

Before his death, Mukabana had declared interest in running for the Embakasi East Parliamentary seat on an ODM Ticket.

According to Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome, the deceased was shot in the chest and head after he attempted to help a man who was being robbed by six robbers.

“He was driving into his compound  when he heard screams from a dark alley where a man was being robbed. He got shot after he headed the distress call and was fatally shot, ” Koome explained to journalists.
