ODM Chairman Wants Wetang’ula Expelled From CORD

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Mp has asked Ford Kenya party leader, Moses Wetang’ula to quit Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) because he is a Jubilee mole out to weaken the Opposition.

Bungoma branch Chairman, John Waluke said Wetang’ula is working with Jubilee coalition to undermine CORD.

“You have seen  yourself how Wetang’ula is running up and down announcing himself as a CORD presidential candidate. He has disregarded the advice from other Co-Principals to wait for a nomination that will help them get the most popular presidential candidate to square it out with Jubilee. This is undermining other partners,” said Waluke.

He pointed out that Wetang’ula is not popular in Bungoma County, leave alone Western region. He further claimed that the Bungoma Senator has been sponsored by Jubilee to split CORD and thereafter get a lucrative position in Jubilee.

Waluke is the MP for Sirisia constituency, having taken over from Wetang’ula who went for the senatorial seat in the last general elections.

Wetang’ula has been traversing western Kenya asking residents to quit ODM and join Ford Kenya. He has maintained that he is the best candidate the Opposition could offer to battle it out with Jubilee.

He has also exuded confidence that he will trounce Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be the coalition’s flag bearer in 2017 general election.

The Bungoma Senator has reiterated that he is the most suitable candidate to take on President Uhuru and that it is time for Kalonzo and Raila to support him because he has the support of the people.

Waluke said Wetang’ula should respect Odinga who campaigned for him in the 2013 general election and later during the December Senatorial by-election the same year.

“He should quit immediately if he thinks he is popular. We do not need him in CORD. In fact, ODM is popular in Western than Ford Kenya,” said Waluke.

ODM in Bungoma County supports its party leader Raila Odinga as their preferred Presidential candidate in CORD.

Waluke said they are tired of the infighting in CORD on who should be their presidential candidate.

“It is in the public knowledge that Odinga is our sole Presidential candidate and nobody else should dispute that. He is the only opposition leader who has the powers to defeat the Jubilee coalition,” said Waluke.

ODM deputy party leader, Wycliffe Oparanya has also been on record asking Wetang’ula to shelve his presidential ambitions until 2022. Oparanya told Wetang’ula to stop lying to the country that he had what it takes to become a presidential candidate, and asked him to stick to MP or senatorial seat.

Waluke further said ODM is ready to look for other partners if Ford Kenya party leader walks out of CORD.

“Wetang’ula looks like an estranged wife. He should make his stand known early enough the way the current Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi did some time back when he walked out,” said Waluke.
