#NoBankingDay! Arbitrary Charges, Nigeria Banks Likely To Be Empty Today

Abuja – Thousands of customers are expected to boycott banking services on Tuesday (today)after the Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON) urged Nigerians to protest against alleged arbitrary charges.

According to Punch, CAFON declared March 1 as “No banking day”.

The non-profit-making organisation said it would mobilize bank customers to boycott banking services nationwide.

This comes weeks after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) imposed N50 on customers as compulsory stamp duty on deposits of N1 000 and above.

If Nigerians heed the call, banks are likely to be empty on Tuesday.
