Cord leaders Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka, as well as Senators James Orengo (Siaya) and Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) risk arrest if they continue with their Madaraka Day plans.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has said only the President is allowed to preside over national holidays, and thus CORD rally at Uhuru Park on Wednesday is illegal.
Nkaissery accused CORD of violating the law, Citizen Digital reports, saying they will not allow the opposition leaders to openly challenge the government.
A showdown has been looming on who will use Uhuru Park on Wednesday, after police told CORD that the venue had been booked for a church event.
However, Kidero has dismissed the claims saying that the County government had already approved CORD’s request to use the venue.
