Nigeria’s Ex- First Lady, Patience Jonathan Is Not Above The Law, APC Says

Timi Frank, Acting National Publicity Secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed a spate of recent protests in support of former First Lady Patience Jonathan, stating that she is not above the law.

According to a Punch report, Frank claimed that the protests were “disheartening”, considering the amount of $31.4 million found in the former First Lady’s account.

In a statement released on Sunday, Frank described threats made by groups in support of Jonathan as “baseless” and “empty”, while claiming that the former administration under the leadership of Goodluck Jonathan could have easily averted the current economic hardship faced by scores of Nigerians.

In addition, Frank warned youths against defending politicians for a “pot of soup”, stating that the APC is fighting corruption to make sure a better life for all citizens, Vanguard reports.

“It should be made clear that there is nothing wrong for the EFCC to invite Mrs. Patience Jonathan for questioning if the organisation suspects a foul play in the accumulation of such big amount of money.

“Again, the era of  ‘I’m above the law’ is over. This is a change government of accountability where the rule of law is paramount,” he stated.
