Abuja – Pandemonium hit Bauchi yesterday when suspected political thugs attacked the convoy of Governor Mohammed Abubakar as he was leaving the Bauchi Edi prayer ground.
The thugs, numbering in the hundreds, damaged the vehicle transporting the Governor, while destroying the back windscreen of the car beyond repair.
According to an eyewitness, thugs ambushed the main road before Abubakar’s movement through the area, chanting slogans such as “Bamayi, meaning, we are not with you, “we don’t want you as governor.”
Several women and youths were seen shouting slurs at the Governor during the attack for his alleged failure to address the needs of citizens living in the state.
Police have confirmed that no arrest have been made in the matter.
