The Nigerian army has allegedly arrested and interrogated former president Goodluck Jonathan’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) in connection with an ongoing probe into fraud relating to an arms procurement deal, Punch has reported.
Colonel Ojogbane Adegbe was arrested on Wednesday, along with seven other serving officers who were handed over to officials from the country’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday.
The arrest follows the EFCC’s probe into the Nigerian army’s hand in the arms scandal.
According to The Sun, Adegbe said a whole new can of worms could be opened up if he were to disclose information about dealings that transpired during former Jonathan’s administration.
Adegbe said another “Dasukigate” could be imminent if he was forced to divulge confidential information.
News24 has previously reported on the arms scandal, popularly referred to as “Dasukigate”, after former National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki was arrested in connection with the diversion of $2.1bn meant for the procurement of arms in the country’s fight against insurgency.
