The Nigerian Army has actually denied returning over 347 bodies to the Kaduna State Government, including that just a little of bodies were handed to a Government agent, Naij has actually reported.
The development follows from a statement made by Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Secretary to the State Government, in which it was revealed that no fewer than 347 unknown members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) had been given a mass burial in the state following the December 12-14 clashes in Zaria.
Muhammad Namadi Musa, Director General of Interfaith, claimed to have led the burial, saying that it was carried out between midnight and 5 a.m.
Major Uche Agulana, a medical officer from the army depot, has since refuted the claims, stating that only a few bodies were handed over.
During cross examination by a commission of inquiry, Agulana disclosed that he had not kept a record of the deaths, due to being busy “trying to save lives” at the time.
Soldiers involved in the Zaria clashes have since claimed that force had to be used in order to restore law and order to the area.
