Following the alleged unfair trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, his supporters have taken President Muhammadu Buhari to task over the latter’s pledges his administration would be apolitical.
Saraki is under probe at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) following alleged false declaration of assets.
Critics of the Buhari administration have alleged the charges are trumped up from his All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
Some bigwigs in the party did not endorse his ascendancy to the Senate Presidency.
Saraki had faced stiff opposition from Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan who was a preferred candidate by a group of senators-elect within the APC.
The aptly named movement, IStandBySaraki Team, alleged the Senate President was under “persecution” as a result of abuse of power by some top APC chieftains.
These have allegedly been their influence to ensure the demise of Saraki.
Saraki’s supporters subsequently advised Buhari, to be “watchful” and “sincere” in his fight against injustice and corruption amid accusations his anti-corruption crusade targeted political opponents.
“Nigerians want you to remember your word, world widely known as ‘I belong to nobody and I belong to everybody’ that Nigeria should not be controlled like one-man state. It is Nigeria for all well- wishers,” the IStandBySaraki Team stated.
