Nigeria: PDP Suffers Another Setback As Ward Chairmen, Others Join APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday suffered a major setback  as its former chairman of Egor local government area in Edo State, ward chairmen,  women leaders, youths and other officials of the local government defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with hundreds of their followers, reports Thisday.

The defectors described the PDP as a leopard which never changes its spots because it lacks the capacity to do so.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the former local government chairman under the PDP, Promise Igbinevbo, said they are leaving after they discovered that PDP leaders were not ready to win elections rather they were using the opportunities to make money for themselves and their families.

He noted that the PDP is not interested in the development of the state, rather the party wants to further plunge the state into decay like it did years ago.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole who received the defectors with the APC governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, described the defection as a season of planting, saying “the PDP is finished, reports Vanguard

He assured the defectors that they will be accommodated in the party.
