Nigeria: New Report Shows Ex-President Jonathan Formed Avengers

A new intelligence report has further revealed linked between militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to a Naij report, the report indicated that oil and gas pipelines had already been infiltrated with explosives prior to Jonathan hand-over to President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2015.

Having been submitted to the Presidency for further study, the report indicated that NDA was formed as a Plan B before the 2015 elections even took place.

The NDA was set to form an independent Niger Delta Republic following Jonathan’s defeat at the polls but were allegedly discouraged in the days that followed the election by Jonathan himself.

“Intelligence report also showed that the evidence of the attacks of oil installations was planned before May 29. The NDA and other militants had mined these installations before the handover.

“But after the probe of the oil sector, they were mandated to start detonating it,” the report read in part.

In addition, the report also indicates that Kingsley Kuku, former Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, and Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), may have played key roles in the formation and later operations of NDA.

Metuh and Kuku have since denied the allegations, The Nation reports.
