Gov Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Thursday approved the dissolution of the caretaker committees of the 57 local councils and council development areas in the state, reports Punch.
The approval followed the resolution of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday relieving the Executive Secretaries of the LGs and LCDAs of their responsibilities.
Thisday reports that the House at plenary had asked Gov Ambode to dissolve the caretaker committees in the 57 local councils.
The governor said the dissolution of the caretaker committees is part of preparations for the conduct of elections in the council areas by the state government.
He directed the executive secretaries to hand over to the head of administration in each of the council areas.
The caretaker committees, headed by executive secretaries, were inaugurated by former governor, Babatunde Fashola, in January 2015.
