Voters in Rivers State must vote against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates so as to punish former President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Nyesom Wike for the sins they have committed against the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said ahead of crucial polls.
The rerun-elections are scheduled for Saturday.
APC alleged Jonathan and Wike have committed gross sins against Rivers State without any justification and should pay.
The party has listed a number of so-called sins the pair is said to have committed.
Chief among these are alleged failure to develop infrastructure in the state, non-implementation of United Nations Environment Programme Report on the clean-up of Ogoni, supporting the impunity of daily killing, maiming of members of Rivers APC, posting and encouraging the excesses of Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, and ceding of oil wells belonging to Rivers to Bayelsa and Abia States.
“These, amongst other wicked acts against Rivers State for reasons only to be explained by Dr Jonathan are why no PDP should be voted for this Saturday’s poll,” said APC Rivers Chairman, Davies Ikanya.
Ikanya pointed out Jonathan is from Bayelsa and his wife, Patience, was from Rivers.
“One would have expected him to be a key factor in the development of Rivers State after the State gave him the highest number of votes in the
2011 presidential election though not shockingly, he was the greatest undoing of his party in the 2015 general election.”
