Nigeria: INEC Fixes Date For Oyo State Assembly By-Election

INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed August 20 to conduct by-election into Oorelope State Constituency in Oyo State.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by Ayodele Folami, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state.

Folami said the by-election was necessitated by the death of Tunji Aremu, who was elected to represent the constituency in the state House of Assembly.

He said political parties and security agencies in the state had been informed of the forthcoming poll.

Folami called on voters in Oorelope Local Government Area to turn out enmasse to vote for candidate of their choice.
