Former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, has denied having a pending case with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, Vanguard reports.

Daniel described as false reports that there is a pending corruption case against him at the anti-graft commission, adding that the inclusion of his name must have been a “mistake somewhere.”

It was speculated last week that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had written to the ICPC Chairman, directing the reopening of corruption cases of 31 former governors.

Daniel was listed as one of the affected former governors, including Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, and ex-Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State.

News24 previously reported that the Federal Government is making plans to reopen corruption cases of 31 former governors which were earlier investigated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

The government through the office of the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abukakar Malami has ordered the commission to immediately reopened the cases.

The affected governors are those who served for either one or two terms between 1999 and 2015.

Some of the ex-governors include some, who had been convicted for charges preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
