Christ Holy Catholic Church, in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State was burnt down by Fulani herdsmen that invaded the community on Monday morning.
11 houses were also razed down in the attack that left scores of people deadand several residents fleeing their homes.
Police Public Relations Officer,Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the rampage.
He revealed that security operatives from the Police and Nigerian Army have been dispatched to the troubled area.
The people of Nkpologu, the community where the Ukpabi, Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani people fled to for safety have reportedly also fled to Nsukka for fear of the attacks spreading to them.
