After being detained for close to one year, there were indications that former National Security Adviser to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan, Sambo Dasuki may be released soon.

His release follows the ECOWAS court ruling, which ordered the federal government to release Dasuki immediately and compensate him with a sum of N15 million for his extended incarceration without bail.

The court according to News 24 declared the arrest and detention of Dasuki, as unlawful and arbitrary

Dasuki is accused of misappropriating $2.1 billion originally budgeted to procure arms for the Nigerian army to combat the Boko Haram sect.

Upon his release, he would be taken to Kaduna to see his aged father, former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki.

He would then be release on bail as directed yt the ECOWAS Court.
