President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed that he would not hesitate to prosecute any All Progressives Congress party member or anyone who supported his Presidency bid found to be corrupt, Punch reports.
Buhari sought to refute claims that he was sparing individuals who backed his campaign in the fight against corruption in his anti-graft war on corrupt individuals.
News24 Nigeria reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State slammed President Buhari for allegedly shielding his ‘corrupt’ ministers in the ongoing anti-corruption war.
According to the party, Buhari was obviously shielding some of his ‘corrupt’ ministers because of their financial contributions to his election.
Buhari though confirmed that he would come down hard on any of his backers who corruption cases could be established against.
“If any of my backers or party (APC) members has anything established against them, let’s see whether I will shield anyone from prosecution. You can be assured that anybody caught in corruption will answer for it irrespective of party, tribe or religion,” Buhari said.
