Nigeria: Ali Modu Sheriff, Ribadu Join PDP Chairmanship Race

Abuja – Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu and Former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff have joined the race for the National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The duo joined six other PDP chieftains that have indicated interest in the position.

The eight are expected to be screened by the party’s caucus .

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, told journalists on Monday that the caucus expanded the number of candidates from the initial four submitted by the governors from the North-east for screening to eight.

Former Minister of State (Power), Mohammed Wakil‎, former governor of old Gongola State, Wilberforce Juta, National Vice Chairman (North East), Senator Girgiri Lawan, Senator Kumo and Shehu Gabam‎ had earliier indicated interest in the position left vacant since the resignation of the former National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu last May.
