Rift valley regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo has blamed politicians in Naivasha for continued land related clashes in the area.
Musiambo said that the unending land feuds in the area are politically instigated and blamed politicians for refusing to be part of finding a solution to the thorny issue.
Speaking Sunday at Maela farm in Naivasha where fresh clashes broke out on Saturday, Musiambo said that politicians are secretly inciting members of their communities to evict other communities from the area.
“The issue in Naivasha is not the common man but politicians who are inciting people to fight over land. Some of the politicians have instructed members of their communities to evict other communities from the area and this is all political in preparation for next year’s polls,” said Musiambo.
He added that the land clashes are common in the area every election period and warned that the government will take stern action against any politician who will continue inciting people to fight.
“If they cannot be part of the solution then as government we will not allow them to continue being part of the problem because we will deal with them accordingly,” he said.
Over the weekend fresh clashes broke up in Maela area of Naivasha between the kikuyu and maasai communities who are fighting over land.
Two people were killed and forty houses torched in the dispute.
