The Nairobi City Government has set aside KES 6.2 billion to improve the road networks in the city and its suburbs, Governor Evans Kidero has said.

Speaking Tuesday during a tour of Gikomba market, Dr Kidero said the money will be used for refurbishment, repair and tarmacking of most roads in the country’s capital city.

“Priority will be given to the Gikomba, Kariobangi, Outering, Dandora and Eastleigh roads. When these roads are done, we shall ease traffic and congestion in the central business district,” said Kidero.

He disclosed that his government has undertaken 40 road construction projects that he said will be completed soon.

“We are here to ensure we improve and make the lives of Nairobi city residents easier by doing away with the endemic traffic jams,” explained Kidero who also visited traders in Kariokor Market.
