On Thursday the Miss World Organisation released a statement on Twitter, addressing fake reports which claimed CEO Julia Morley had tested positive for the coronavirus.
“We are aware of news circulating on the web and from fake online accounts it has been reported that Julia Morley, Chairman and CEO has Coronavirus. This is not true and has already been denied many times,” the statement reads, adding that Julia is “well and is working at her office in London.”
As Covid-19 continues to spread, so do fake reports surrounding the virus.
In South Africa, government has warned the public against spreading fake news about the pandemic, saying that it is a punishable offense.
