Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has launched a complaint against Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko and the police demanding to know why CORD leader Raila Odinga is still a free man.
While addressing residents in Kikuyu constituency, Mr Kuria questioned why Tobiko was hunting down NairobiSenator Mike Sonko after declaring himself acting president, yet Mr Odinga had not been questioned for asking the Narok community to arm themselves with spears and rungus, if the electoral body commissioners refused to vacate office.
The legislators stated that if the police was unable to do so, he can get young men who would assist him to arrest the former Prime Minister and present him to them..
“Na kama polisi ameshindwa kushika Raila kwa sababu kuna watu tayari wameandika malalamiko, mimi nitakuja kuchukua vijana tumshike Raila tumdunge ***(unprintable words) tumweke ndani (If the police is unable to arrest Raila as there already individuals who wrote to the court over his remarks. I will organise young men we arrest him),” Kuria said.
Mr Kuria pointed out that it was not fair that no action had been taken the Opposition leader questioning whether he was above the law.
He urged Mr Sonko not to appear before the DPP as Odinga’s remarks had been made earlier hence should be a priority to Tobiko.
At the same time, Senior Director for Digital Innovations and New Media at State House Dennis Itumbi had also called for the arrest of Mr Odinga noting that his remarks could propagate violence in the country.
In a report, the former Premier was quoted telling the community in Narok: “Nataka wakenya wote kutoka Mandera, Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado na pande zote za Kenya, wajihami na mikuki, mishale na silaha zote tuende huko Nairobi na tutoe hiyo committee ya Hassan kwenye ofisi (I am calling on all Kenyans fro Mandera,Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado and elsewhere in Kenya to arm themselves so that we go to nairobi and force Hassan’s team out of office).”
