Media Letting Kenya Down, Uhuru Complains

President Uhuru Kenyatta says that the media is not supporting the government in its initiatives.

The President, in his state of the nation address accused the media of letting the government down in a number of ways and asked that they move to support the government and its initiatives.

” The media has a choice to make. They can either build or destroy and at the moment the feeling is that they are destroying,” he said Thursday.

He added that he hoped to have the media make better decisions that will affect positively the nation building process.

” A positive media means a harmonious country and a better image for Kenya. It is up to the media to decide what route to take,” he added.

The President has previously accused the media of reporting negatively as regards terrorism, corruption and social ills, saying that they should do better to create a positive image for the country.
