Marathoner Collapses While Attempting To Run 10,000km Race In 100 Days!

A pot normally breaks at the doorstep, so goes the popular saying. This adage came true last week to an Indian marathoner after he collapsed few kilometres to finishing a 10,000-kilometre race in a self-imposed time.

Samir Singh, christened the “Faith Runner” set out to run for 10,000km in 100 days but collapsed due to exhaustion 36km to finishing the race, according to Sky News.

“He spent three months running between Mumbai’s slums and business district using donated clothes and equipment and living on just $2 a day,” Sky News reported.

The runner started the race on April 29 and ran continuously every day until things went haywire. By the time he collapsed, the 5ft 7in coach weighed just 40kg having suffered stomach problems and fever.

“The 44-year-old needed to run 150km on the last day to hit 10,000km and amazingly did 114km before his body gave in,” said Sky News.
