Some ardent fans and music lovers across the world have taken to social media to celebrate the 61st posthumous birthday of Michael Jackson, American singer and songwriter — a decade after his death.

The ‘King of Pop’ was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana near Chicago in the US.

He died on June 25, 2009, of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication at his home on north Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.

He is remembered for breaking barriers with his music and dance steps.

His music videos, including those for ‘Beat It’, ‘Billie Jean’, and ‘Thriller’ from his 1982 album ‘Thriller’, are credited for breaking numerous records and transforming the culture in the entertainment industry.

He is seen by many as the most popular entertainer in the world and was said to have been the best-selling music artist at the time of his death.
