Kenyans are not in need internet to access Safaricom’s Little Cabs service.
Unlike the rival Uber taxi service, Little Cabs will be targeting people who do not own smartphones.
According to Daily Nation, the service can be accessed through the USSD code *826#.
Little Cabs will also be rewarding customers with airtime worth their ride up to a maximum of KES 500 after the first and fifth rides.
Safaricom launched the taxi service in June in partnership with Nairobi-based software developer Craft Silicon to boost its revenues as well as reach to non-internet users.
They will help develop the application, offer the network connectivity, put Wi-Fi in vehicles that will be signed up on Littlecabs, and use its mobile-phone based financial service M-Pesa to process payments.
