A worker at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School has found himself on the wrong side of the law after items stolen from the institution including a photo of President Uhuru Kenyatta were found in his house.
The 52-year-old man, who has worked at the school for 10 years now, was busted by a night guard who noticed strange happenings on Saturday at around 3am.
According to the guard, he spotted an unlocked staff house in the wee hours of the morning with the lights turned off.
“The night guard became suspicious and immediately raised the alarm after which other staff members in the school came to find that several items had been stolen from the house,” a local daily quoted.
It was then that a house to house search was conducted by staffers at the institution when they came across students’ textbooks, laboratory equipment, desks, bar soaps, pangas, utensils, computers and underwear belonging to the girls hidden at the suspect’s house.
Confirming the incident, Mathira West OCPD David Kemboi noted that the elderly man took them to another house where they found President Kenyatta’s photo which he had taken with the students when he visited the school early in the year.
The picture had been placed at the library but mysteriously went missing.
Hundreds of bras and panties belonging to the girls were also recovered from the suspect’s house.
