Five security guards were killed on Wednesday night in an attack that left four others injured in Machakos County.
Reports indicate that unknown assailants ambushed Mitaboni market armed with axes andpangas where they killed and injured the watchmen. The injured guards were rushed to Makueni Level 5 Hospital.
On Thursday morning, residents took to the streets to protest against the brutal attack at the trading centre.
They barricaded roads and lit tyres calling on police to take action. Police were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the rioting residents.
