Kenyan Blogger, Douglas Baya Arraigned Over Leaked Women Rep’s Fake video

A blogger suspected to have released a fake obscene video of Wajir Woman Representative Fatma Gedi in a compromising situation with an unidentified man was yesterday arraigned in a Kiambu court.

Douglas Baya who was arrested by police on December 27 was arraigned before Kiambu Senior Resident Magistrate Brian Kiambu.

The suspect did not take a plea after prosecution through cyber crime investigating Officer Bakhith Khaungu asked the court to allow them to hold the suspect for seven days to conclude investigations.

The officers told the court they needed to obtain a forensic report on a cyber report from the Communication Authority of Kenya as well as travel to Wajir and Kakamega to arrest more suspects linked to the matter.

The suspect is likely to be charged with the offense of publishing Obscene Information in Electronic Form Contrary to the law.

The magistrate granted the police permission to continue holding the suspect for 14 days to complete investigations.

He will be returned to the court on January 14, 2019, when he is expected to take the plea.
